BKD hires financial execs

Posted online

BKD LLP hired two financial executives with recent backgrounds in the university and health care industries.

Jeff Huinda and Megan O’Dell joined BKD’s national health care group, according to a news release from the certified public accounting firm.

“In our work with health centers across the country, our professionals identified the opportunity to bring financial and grants management expertise to help organizations more effectively handle complex issues,” said Gary Schafer, managing partner of BKD’s Springfield office, in the release. “It has been difficult for our experts to be everywhere they are needed. That is where the talent and experience Megan and Jeff bring come into play, so we are thrilled to have them on the BKD team.”

Huinda previously served a stint as Drury’s chief financial officer before his January resignation, and before that, he was Evangel’s controller and Assemblies of God’s corporate accounting manager and controller, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. At Drury, Huinda was succeeded as CFO by Chelsey Dollarhide.

Last year, BKD recruited another Drury executive, Dan Prater, as senior managing consultant. Prater was the founding executive director of Drury’s Center for Nonprofit Leadership.

At BKD, Huinda works with community health center clients on financial analysis, consulting, grant management and other procedures, according to the release.

O’Dell comes to BKD from Guardian Pharmacy of Missouri LLC, where she was director of finance and administration, said BKD spokeswoman Anna Larriu.

She works with health care management teams on financial technical support, according to the release.

Her former employer, Guardian Pharmacy, specializes in medication management services. Last year, the company tripled its office size in a more than $1 million move, SBJ previously reported.
