Billy Long, President Donald Trump's pick to lead the IRS, is facing scrutiny over campaign contributions he received shortly after the nomination.
Long, a former member of Congress from Missouri, reportedly received $137,000 in donations in January after Trump announced his selection lead the IRS in December. Long then paid $130,000 in debt from his unsuccessful 2022 U.S. Senate campaign, according to the Missouri Independent.
Long’s appointment to head the IRS awaits Senate confirmation.
