Best of the Best: Abacus, Forvis Mazars recognized by industry group

Two companies with Springfield roots are among the 2024 Best of the Best certified public accounting firms, according to a recently released industry group list.

Abacus, based in Springfield, and Forvis Mazars LLP, which operates its Queen City office at 910 St. Louis St., are on the list published by Inside Public Accounting. The top companies, which are listed alphabetically, are chosen based on an annual IPA survey that includes metrics such as management, growth and strategic vision.

Abacus and Forvis Mazars are sorted into the group of companies that make more than $10 million in annual revenue. Abacus reported $17.8 million in net revenue for the list, with Forvis Mazars reporting nearly $2.2 billion.

"It doesn’t take unlimited resources to be named a top performer – smaller firms that do more with less can grow quickly and efficiently with results that are the envy of their peers," IPA officials said in the report. "The Best of the Best find ways to excel despite the vagaries of the economy, technological changes and staffing challenges.”

On IPA's list of the 500 largest CPA firms released this summer, Forvis Mazars ranked No. 8. KPM CPAs & Advisors ranked No. 254 with $19.4 million in net revenue, and Abacus was No. 280.
