Bass Pro Shops is hiring in its hometown of Springfield as part of plans to grow its workforce ahead of the holidays in the United States and Canada.
The outdoor retailer is targeting 60 hires in Springfield, according to a news release. They would be part of some 4,000 seasonal, part-time and full-time employees the company is hiring for the holidays.
The company is hosting a national hiring event at all of its Bass Pro and Cabela's stores in the U.S. and Canada today and tomorrow. Locally, job candidates can visit the 1 Bass Pro Drive Outdoor World store at Campbell Avenue and Sunshine Street.
Bass Pro officials say employee benefits include merchandise discounts of up to 50% off, holiday and vacation pay, and health, dental and life insurance programs.
Bass Pro ranked No. 4 on Springfield Business Journal's list this year of the area's largest employers. The company reported 7,500 employees within a 50-mile radius of Springfield and 40,000 workers companywide for the list published July 22.
