Two Springfield-based companies are named on a recently released Newsweek list of the nation's best retailers.
Bass Pro Shops and O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) are first in their categories of camping and outdoor gear and auto supplies, respectively, according to a news release. Newsweek partnered with Statista on its third-annual ranking of the best U.S. retailers, rating companies based on survey responses from more than 7,000 shoppers on their likelihood of recommending the retailers and their thoughts on the companies' prices, selection, atmosphere, customer service and accessibility.
Bass Pro had an overall score of 90.63 out of a possible 100, with O'Reilly Auto Parts scoring 85.79. Additionally, Bass Pro's Cabela's brand was second in camping and outdoor gear with an overall score of 89.86.
In a news release, Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said the company is "deeply honored by this recognition."
"To be named by customers as the best retailer in our field is especially meaningful, because our total focus has always been to give consumers the best products and the best experiences in a welcoming and fun environment," he said in the release.
In the camping and outdoor gear category, REI ranks No. 3, followed by Sierra Trading Post at No. 4 and Sportsman's Warehouse at No. 5.
In the auto supplies category, Advance Auto Parts was No. 2 and AutoZone was No. 3.
