Art St. Louis, a nonprofit arts organization in operation for nearly 50 years, has shut down.
Layoffs have reportedly impacted all of the nonprofit's staff members. The nonprofit also has closed its gallery and the Catalyst Coffee shop.
A notice sent to artists cited “circumstances beyond ASL's control” and noted the board could “no longer, in good faith, ask our dedicated employees to continue to shoulder the burden of uncertainty without a clear path to paying their wages going forward.”
