The Arc of the Ozarks, a nonprofit provider of disability services for nearly six decades, has acquired eight-year-old TheraCare Outpatient Services LLC.
The deal with TheraCare founder Melanie Stinnett closed June 1, according to a news release. The financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
“It has always been my goal to increase access to therapy services while not sacrificing the quality of care we provide,” Stinnett said in the release. “I believe that joining the team at The Arc of the Ozarks meets both of these goals.”
A for-profit venture operating at 3023 S. Fort Ave., Ste. B, TheraCare focuses on pediatrics for its health care services, such as speech, occupational and physical therapy. An honoree for Springfield Business Journal's 2021 Economic Impact Awards, TheraCare reported 2020 revenue of $1.1 million and 26 employees.
Officials with The Arc of the Ozarks say the acquisition will grow its capacity to serve individuals and families in the area. The Fort Avenue location will continue to be used at this time, said Tim Dygon, executive vice president of The Arc of the Ozarks, via email.
"Melanie and her staff are a valuable addition to the services provided to individuals and families in southwest Missouri," said Mike Powers, president and CEO of The Arc of the Ozarks, in the release. "Working together, we can meet even more therapy needs in our community.”
Dygon said Stinnett is serving as vice president of therapy services following the acquisition. From TheraCare, The Arc of the Ozarks brought on 24 employees.
Stinnett last year announced her bid for the District 133 seat in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
