Andy's Frozen Custard Inc. is planning to open its first store in Republic.
Republic City Council on Jan. 12 heard a first reading bill that would authorize a development agreement for public improvements with White Shirts LLC, a commercial property developer and lessor operated by Andy Kuntz, president of Andy's Frozen Custard. The meeting was livestreamed on the city's YouTube page.
Republic Public Works & Community Development Director Andrew Nelson told council members Kuntz has a property under contract at 1355 U.S. Highway 60. Nelson said a late June opening is targeted.
"He is extremely excited about being in our community," City Administrator David Cameron said of Kuntz.
Council’s approval would pave the way for new access points along Highway 60. The operators of Macadoodles, located adjacent to the site, have said access issues have been pervasive, Nelson said. Passengers exiting the store currently do not have direct access to eastbound Highway 60.
The planned Andy's Frozen Custard site previously was a Meek’s Lumber Co. property. It’s listed by R.B. Murray Co. for sale at $1.9 million.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
