Ameren seeks rate increase

St. Louis power company Ameren is seeking an increase in customer rates.

The increase would boost Ameren's revenue by roughly $300 million annually, an amount that would help the company pay for electric grid upgrades and new wind generation facilities.

If granted, the rate increase would raise the average residential customer's electric bill by $12 per month.
