AECI CFO sets retirement

Associated Electric Cooperative Inc.'s longtime chief financial officer is retiring.

David McNabb, the Springfield-based electricity cooperative's CFO since 2006 and an employee with the organization since 1997, is scheduled to retire at year's end, according to a news release. Before then, he'll transition Oct. 1 to a temporary role as senior vice president and special adviser to AECI General Manager and CEO David Tudor. On that day, Controller Meredith Roberts will step into the CFO position.

“Dave’s expertise and efforts have helped to build Associated into a financially strong and flexible cooperative able to successfully navigate challenges and opportunities,” Tudor said in the release. “He has worked tirelessly on issues important to Associated and its members, bringing insights that, at their center, safeguard our mission to provide affordable and reliable electricity."

As CFO, McNabb oversees an operating budget of $1.2 billion, as well as 41 full-time employees, said spokesperson Mark Viguet. AECI, which is owned and provides wholesale power to a system of six regional transmission cooperatives and their distributors, delivers electricity to 2.1 million member-consumers in Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa.

McNabb already has been working with Roberts in a transition plan. A 17-year employee of AECI, Roberts has been controller since 2008. Roberts is a certified public accountant who previously worked as a supervisor for BKD LLP.

"We are fortunate that Dave has prepared Meredith for this opportunity, making the decision on her selection clear," Tudor said in the release. "I am confident Associated will not lose any momentum through this transition.”
