Four Springfield-area nonprofits have been selected to receive a combined $672,324 in tax credits through the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
The awards are part of more than $7.6 million in Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits doled out statewide to 44 organizations, according to a news release.
Local tax credits are going to the following:
• Child Advocacy Center Inc. in Springfield, $101,764 to provide services for child victims of abuse and neglect
• Literacy Volunteers of America LLC in Lebanon, $70,560 to provide at-risk adults and economically disadvantaged students over the age of 16 with literacy and math tutoring
• Ozarks Food Harvest in Springfield, $250,000 for its mission of distributing food to 28 southwest Missouri counties
• Victory Mission and Ministry in Springfield, $250,000 for the construction of a more than 50,000-square-foot, 150-bed facility that would be used for emergency and transitional housing and provide other services
“Strengthening communities through the Neighborhood Assistance Program helps secure our state’s prosperous future,” Gov. Mike Kehoe said in the release. “Missouri is home to a wide variety of organizations dedicated to helping others. This program is an incredible resource that supports critically important work happening statewide.”
Through the program, donors may give to the selected nonprofits in exchange for tax credits.
