2021 Trusted Advisers Insurance Professional: Blake Evans

BXS Insurance Inc.

Insurance is not a 9-to-5 job for Blake Evans, as customers have insurance claims at all hours of the day. He says it comes with the territory.

“I protect your hard-earned assets, business operations and make sure if catastrophic events occur, you have the backing and resources to keep your business operating while we get our client back up and running to full capacity,” says Evans, a senior producer for BXS Insurance Inc.

BXS Insurance offers property and casualty lines, health benefits and personal insurance. In his role, Evans provides advice tailored to his clients’ industries, including risk management, claims analysis and resources for training multistate operations.

“I hope my clients see and understand that we are part of their business inner circle,” Evans says. “I provide analytical data reports of claim history so we can track trends and understand what the cause of property, liability and personal injuries are so we can be proactive and not reactive.”

Evans is a certified insurance service representative and certified insurance counselor through the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. He’s worked for BXS Insurance for 14 years and last year managed over 50 clients, representing $6.57 million in annual premiums sold. Evans has increased his premium volumes by double digit percentages in each of the past two years.

Michael Miller of Mid-Missouri Bank was previously one of Evans’ clients, when he was managing member at Lowther Johnson Attorneys at Law LLC. Miller says Evans made the process of obtaining insurance a smooth one for the firm.

“Instead of giving us the ‘standard’ coverages, Blake wanted to make sure the policies the firm purchased provided the coverage that was necessary and did not try to push policies that were not,” Miller says. “It was very comforting knowing that Blake was more interested in making sure the firm had the right coverage and not just all coverage that he could get it to buy.”

Inside the BXS office, and in his community roles, Evans has taken interests in leadership and networking. He’s a graduate of Leadership Springfield Class 31.

“Leadership Springfield was a great opportunity for me and provided amazing insight to our local community from Springfield history, business operations and nonprofits,” he says. “After the leadership course was complete, I stayed active in the program and was on the finance and fundraising committee for two years.”

Evans says he strives to stay up to date on what is going on in the insurance world.

“At BXS, I am able to connect with over 700 professionals locally, regionally and nationally,” he says. “We are members of the World Broker Network, which helps with incoming and outgoing risk across the world for our clients, if needed. We have a claims and management specialist along with in-house attorneys that specialize in the insurance industry that I use for updates, trends and resources for our clients.”
