O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC plans to hire more than 120 full- and part-time employees for the company’s north-side BigShots Golf franchise development.
The hiring plans were revealed in a news release announcing the Nov. 22 groundbreaking ceremony for the entertainment center at the intersection of Kearney Street and Glenstone Avenue. O’Reilly Hospitality Management CEO Tim O’Reilly, Missouri House of Representatives minority leader Crystal Quade and Greene County Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon were among those who participated in the groundbreaking ceremony.
Project general contractor Larry Snyder and Co. is targeting a 10-month build-out. Construction originally had been targeted for the first quarter this year, but O’Reilly in August told Springfield Business Journal that “convoluted sewer easement issues” had to be addressed at the property, causing delays.
O’Reilly Hospitality spokeswoman Tara Collier this morning declined to disclose the estimated cost for the 1930 E. Kearney St. project. A Springfield building permit lists a $6.5 million declared valuation for the 12-acre development, where a former Kmart was demolished earlier this year.
Plans call for 56 driving range bays, 3,500 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor putting green and a restaurant, according to the release.
“We are so very excited to bring BigShots Golf to the Springfield community, as I think it fills a little bit of a void that we have in entertainment and activity options, especially on the north side,” O’Reilly said in the release.
The development is a partnership with ClubCorp, which last year bought controlling interest in Peoria, Illinois-based BigShots Golf LLC.
ClubCorp CEO David Pillsbury said in the release the groundbreaking ceremony was the second for BigShots Golf and O’Reilly Hospitality this month. O’Reilly Hospitality also signed on for a BigShots Golf franchise in Fort Worth, Texas, SBJ previously reported.
