Workers haul black walnuts as the annual harvest begins. Stockton’s Hammons Products Co. is offering $15 per 100 pounds – after hulling – for walnuts brought to their 235 hulling sites in 14 states. “We hope for an abundant harvest of at least 24 million pounds of nuts, and perhaps as many as 30 million pounds,” Hammons Products President Brian Hammons says, noting crops the past three years have been below average.
