SPS hires athletic director

Posted online

Springfield Public Schools selected its next athletic director from 17 applications, said spokesman Stephen Hall.

The district chose in-state applicant Josh Scott for the role, according to a news release. He’s scheduled to start July 1, succeeding Randy Stange, who took a job earlier this year at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.

Recognized this year as the State Athletic Director of the Year by the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, Scott will bring 10 years of experience as athletic administrator for the Waynesville R-6 district.

“Josh brings a wealth of experience as an athletic director and school leader,” said Shane Dublin, executive director of secondary learning for SPS, in the release. “He has many professional connections at the regional, state and national levels that will be extremely beneficial to our district.”

In Springfield, Scott will oversee athletic programs for the state’s largest school district of 25,000 students. His annual salary will be $120,093.
