Jordan Valley awarded $1.5M grant from UnitedHealthcare

The CEO of Jordan Valley Community Health Center was appointed this month to the Truman State University Board of Governors.

Brooks Miller, Jordan Valley’s chief executive since 2002, will serve on the Kirksville university’s board through Jan. 1, 2024. He succeeds Susan Plassmeyer, associate vice chancellor of Washington University in St. Louis, according to a news release issued this morning.

Miller joins a 10-member board overseeing the operations of Truman State, which has a student population of more than 6,270. The school is named after former President Harry S. Truman, according to its website.

Truman State’s board members are appointed by Missouri’s governor. Seven of the 10 governors, including Miller, are voting members, while two out-of-state members and a student representative do not have voting power, according to Truman.edu.

Miller earned his bachelor’s in business administration in 1982 and his master’s in education administration in 1987 from Truman State, according to the release.

He also recently was appointed to the board of directors for the Missouri Foundation for Health.
