Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG) announced a renovation of its Battlefield Mall food court.
Construction starts today on the project to add seating, including communal and bar styles, changing stations, televisions, and new cosmetic finishes and colors designed to modernize the dining area, according to a news release.
“We’re excited to begin construction on the renovation of the dining pavilion as part of an ongoing commitment to provide local Springfield residents with the best possible shopping experience,” said Michael Martin, general manager of Battlefield Mall, in the release.
A spokesperson for Simon could not be reached for comment by deadline. A building permit on file with the city points to a $480,616 declared valuation for the food court project. The permit indicates The Law Co. Inc., out of Wichita, Kansas, is the general contractor.
The renovation is expected to be complete in the spring. Battlefield Mall officials say customers will start to see barricades installed soon, though restaurants will continue to be operational, according to the release.
Battlefield Mall’s website lists food court tenants Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Greek in the Box, Charleys Philly Steaks, Chick-fil-A, Freshzza Pizza, London Calling Pasty Co., Max Orient, Neighborhood News, Pan Pacific Grill, Subway and Taco Bell.
The release did not indicate any tenant changes.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
