SBJ to honor 12 fastest-growing companies

Posted online

The scores have been tabulated for Springfield Business Journal’s 2018 Dynamic Dozen, recognizing the 12 fastest-growing companies in the Ozarks.

The Dynamic Dozen companies, in alphabetical order, are Andy’s Frozen Custard Inc., Bussell Building Inc., CoxHealth, GigSalad, Hurts Donut Co. LLC, Keller Williams Realty, Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool Inc., OakStar Bank, O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC, Phoenix Home Care Inc., Russell Cellular Inc. and Tomo Drug Testing. A countdown of company rankings, No. 12 to No. 1, will be announced during a May 24 reception and awards ceremony at The Old Glass Place downtown.

Also at the ceremony, SBJ will honor five professionals with individual awards and present the third-annual Judge’s Choice Award, recognizing a company’s community achievements.

Determined by an independent panel of judges, the individual honors will be awarded in five categories:

• Top Local Executive: Brian Weiler, Springfield-Branson National Airport director of aviation;

• Top Local Financial Officer: Tammy Short, Ozark School District chief financial officer;

• Top Local Sales/Marketing Professional: Krystal Simon, Camp Barnabas chief development officer;

• Top Local Human Resources Professional: Andy Hedgpeth, CoxHealth vice president of human resources; and

• Employee of the Year: Lynn Coffey, Kickapoo High School director of Kickapoo University.

The Judge’s Choice Award honors a company whose dynamic qualities extend beyond revenue to impact the community. Recognizing innovative growth, civic awareness and philanthropic efforts, the judges selected Hurts Donut Co. for the 2018 honor.

The fast-growth companies are determined through a numbers-based formula that awards points for both annual revenue and percentage growth for 2015, 2016 and 2017. In their applications, eligible companies must report gross revenue of at least $500,000 in each year, and they must operate headquarters within 50 miles of Springfield.

A third party, Regent Bank Springfield market President Craig Dunn, verified the numbers in the Dynamic Dozen applications.

Profiles of the companies and individuals will appear in a special publication debuting at the event and distributed in SBJ’s May 28 edition.
