Springfield Business Journal continues its tradition of honoring two Springfield-area Top Doctors during November’s Health Care Champions event.
An independent panel of judges selected the recipients for this top honor and chose additional health care professionals to be recognized in four other fields: administrator, nurse, technician and therapist.
This year’s Top Doctor honors go to Dr. Laura Waters, pediatrician with Mercy Hospital Springfield, and Dr. Shawn Usery, chief medical officer with CoxHealth in Branson.
The individual Health Care Champions, chosen by an independent panel of judges and in alphabetical order, are:
• Administrator: Debbie Cain, president of Home Parenteral Services; Jay Guffey, chief medical officer at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield LLC; and Tracy Mitchell, population health system administrative director for CoxHealth.
• Nurse: Amanda Cole, lead nursing research faculty and associate professor at Cox College; Michelle Dickens, CoxHealth’s Ferrell-Duncan Clinic Department of Allergy & Immunology nurse and asthma educator; and Emily Matheson, a nurse in CoxHealth’s neonatal intensive care unit.
• Technician: Julie Bird, laboratory manager with Citizens Memorial Healthcare; James Doherty, CoxHealth paramedic; and Kent Meador, manager of radiology vascular lab and ultrasound with Mercy Hospital Springfield.
• Therapist: Jennifer Garner, pediatric physical therapist and clinic manager at Dynamic Strides Therapy Inc.; Susan Pomerenke, physical therapist with Mercy Hospital Springfield; and David Stoecker, founder and director of Better Life in Recovery Inc.
The Health Care Champions banquet starts at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 15, with networking followed by dinner at DoubleTree Hotel, 2431 N. Glenstone Ave.
