Maes Gelateria LLC
Cameron
Maes opened a satellite location of Maes Gelateria LLC on Jan. 10 at 1932 S. Glenstone Ave., where The Cat & The Fiddle restaurant once stood. Maes, partnering again with his father Earl, spent an undisclosed amount of personal capital to purchase a 160-square-foot shipping container online and convert it into a smaller version of his 334 E. Walnut St. shop, which serves gelato and sorbet as well as coffee drinks. The new store features a walk-up window with a patio and drive- thru. Maes said he signed a six-month lease with John Onshun of Onshun Properties LLC for an out-lot of The Plaza Shopping Center. Maes opened his first store in 2016 and said he wanted to reach a new demographic with the South Glenstone Avenue shop. “The crowd that does not come downtown stays away from downtown like the plague,” he said.
