John Q. Hammons’ fifth hotel property in Springfield opened March 1. Holiday Inn Express & Suites, a 119-room, four-story hotel at 1117 St. Louis St., is owned by Hammons and managed by John Q. Hammons Hotels Inc. The 75,680-square-foot hotel sits on 2.5 acres and has 1,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel also has indoor and outdoor hot tubs, an outdoor pool, a fitness center and laundry facilities. Workers staff the front desk 24 hours.

Scramblers opened its sixth restaurant Feb. 16, at 533 E. Elm in Republic’s Town Center Plaza. There are four locations in Springfield and one in Nixa. Bill Cox, president of family-owned Scramblers Inc., said the new 4,500-square-foot restaurant seats 175, and 70 percent of its 60 employees are full-time. He declined to disclose terms of the lease. The Republic location’s extended hours led to the creation of an expanded dinner menu, including steaks, lasagna and pot roast. Hours are 5:30 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. reopened March 7 at 319 N. Main, Ste. 200. “We bought this in partnership with Scott Tillman and redeveloped it,” said President Geoffrey Butler of the old Universal Paint building. “The whole project is $3.25 million.” Butler said the firm occupies about two-thirds of the 22,000-square-foot building, which sat vacant for about 10 years. Established in 1978, the firm spent 14 years at its previous location, 300 S. Jefferson, Ste. 505. The firm has 60 full-time employees, and its hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Harshman Chiropractic reopened Jan. 31 in its new location, 636 W. Republic Road, Ste. 108, in Corporate Village. Kort Harshman, D.C., moved his staff of four full-time chiropractic assistants from 519 E. Walnut to the 3,000-square-foot office condo, which he purchased for an undisclosed amount. Esterly, Schneider & Associates was the architect, GRS Construction was general contractor, and A. Deckard Interiors was the interior designer. Harshman said the move was the result of growth. “Comparing February of 2004 to February of 2005, we had a 27 percent growth in services, in revenue generated,” he said, adding that patient visits were up 12 percent. Hours are 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 7:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday and 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday.
