Officials to cut ribbon on $5.3M senior-living development

Officials involved with north-side senior-living development McClernon Villas are scheduled to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week.

HP Construction LLC, Housing Plus LLC’s contracting division, built the $5.3 million project, a five-building, 36-unit community for individuals age 55 and older. Designed by Sedalia-based Wallace Architects LLC, the 31,000-square-foot center on 5.4 acres includes a community center and six units for veterans referred by The Kitchen Inc.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1320 E. McClernon St. — located northwest of Interstate 44 and Glenstone Avenue — is scheduled 10 a.m. Oct. 19, according to a news release.

Roz Palmer, community development manager for The Kitchen, said move-ins began in May and have continued through the completion of the development. Occupancy currently is at 97 percent, she said.

HP Construction broke ground on the senior-living center in September 2016.

The opening of McClernon Villas comes as one senior-living projects finalizes and two get off the ground.

In Nixa, O’Reilly Development Co. LLC recently wrapped up its $18.8 million development called The Castlewood Senior Living.

Willow Springs-based Willow Health Care Inc. is developing a $23 million project in Rogersville dubbed Copper Rock and Springfield Holdings LLC is building the Canyon Springs retirement community at 3810 S. Weller Ave., according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
