Newsmakers: Sept. 4-10, 2017

BRS CPAs & Trusted Advisors LLC promoted Alex Frazier to senior staff accountant, Ashley Anderson to audit staff accountant and Tanner Jones to staff accountant. Frazier joined BKD as an accountant in 2013, and Anderson and Jones started as interns for the company in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Banking & Finance
Guaranty Bank promoted Lindsey McLaughlin to assistant vice president. McLaughlin joined the bank in 2012 as a loan review officer and has 14 years of banking experience.

BluCurrent Credit Union promoted Hannah McCaig to mortgage sales manager from branch manager and Lyndsey Robertson to branch manager from an assistant manager.

The credit union also named Brian Hatcher, Kaitlyn Peoples and Matt Shroyer as assistant branch managers. Hatcher, a facilities specialist for BluCurrent, previously worked in management for organizations in Oklahoma, Texas and Georgia, and both Peoples and Shroyer have worked at BluCurrent as tellers and member service representatives.

Erica Crain joined St. Louis-based accounting firm CliftonLarsonAllen LLP as a senior marketing consultant for credit risk services of Springfield-area clients. Previously working for Commerce Bank as a senior commercial relationship manager, she now delivers outsourced loan review services.

Conservation
Ozarks Greenways hired John Montgomery as Frisco Highline Trail coordinator. He has experience working in health and transportation management.

Education
For the 2017-18 school year, Southwest Baptist University added 11 faculty members. Their names and departments/fields of teaching: Jennifer Brady, Mercy College library; Chadd Caldwell, art; Nancy Delmont, nursing; Kristin Hamm, accounting; Autumn Finley, English; John Hinsley, kinesiology; John Murphy, biology; Matthew Rice, criminal justice; Neoma Sanders, social work; Paulina Swiatkowski, communications; and Rachel Wallenbeck, library services.

Amy Counts, of Ballwin, joined the Missouri State University Board of Governors. An alumnus and senior account executive with Wise F&I, she succeeds Steve Hoven as MSU’s Second District representative.

Government
Gov. Eric Greitens appointed two area businesspeople to state posts: James Heatherly, owner of Springfield-based S2 Consultant LLC, on the Missouri Division of Professional Registration’s Board of Private Investigators and Private Fire Investigator Examiners, and Doug Russell, president of Lebanon-based The Durham Co., on the State Board of Education.

Hospitality
Hotel Vandivort hired Zackary Oxley as general manager. With 14 years of hospitality experience, he previously worked as general manager for Wyvern Hotel in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Law
Neale & Newman partners Richard Owensby and Richard Schnake were named Best Lawyers in America.

The peer review publication, Best Lawyers, also cited Lathrop Gage LLP attorneys Dan Nelson, Douglas Nickell, Dwayne Fulk, Frank Evans III, James Meadows, Joseph Reid, Michael Textor and Randell Wallace.

Municipal
The Springfield Fire Department received a $654,505 grant through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program by the Department of Homeland Security. The city plans to hire seven firefighters, with the funds covering salaries and benefits for three years.

The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management named Samantha Foster deputy director. First working with the OEM as an intern in 2013, she recently served as municipality planning specialist and an exercise/training specialist where Foster was instrumental in enhancing the county’s Community Emergency Response Team.
