Banking & Finance
The Payroll Co. hired Stephanie Stevens as a payroll specialist. She has 20 years of experience in payroll and client management, having previously worked for Delaget LLC and O’Reilly Automotive Inc.

Education
The U.S. News & World Report ranked College of the Ozarks No. 1 on its list of Best Value Regional Colleges. The school also was recognized as the No. 1 Most Innovative School, No. 5 Best Regional College in the Midwest and No. 4 Best Undergraduate Teaching in the Midwest. Nearly 1,800 schools were surveyed nationwide.

The National Scholastic Press Association named the Nixa High School journalism program as a finalist in its Pacemaker competition. With 48 other finalists among yearbooks, newspapers, magazines and online broadcast programs, the competition will identify 26 winners at a national conference in November.

Delta Mu Delta, the International Honor Society in Business, selected Southwest Baptist University student Kailynn Kneibert for its Regional Award for the 2017-18 academic year. A senior accounting major from St. Louis, she was honored for her academic achievement as a business student.

The Missouri Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators elected Peggy Reed as president. An associate professor of education at Evangel University, she is completing a two-year term as the association’s secretary before assuming her new role in 2018.

Government
Rep. Elijah Haahr
, R-Springfield, was selected as speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives in 2019. First elected to the House in 2012, he will succeed Rep. Todd Richardson, R-Poplar Bluff.

Health Care
Loehr Chiropractic and Acupuncture LLC added Jason Hall as a certified athletic trainer. With a master’s in exercise science and athletic training from University of North Carolina-Greensboro, he has served as trainer for the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals minor league teams.

Manufacturing
Missouri Enterprise LLC appointed Gary Harrell as area business manager. He represents the Rolla-based group’s business and technical assistance services to manufacturing, agricultural and technology-based companies. Harrell previously worked as eastern regional sales manager for CMC Letco Industries.

Municipal
The Missouri Municipal League awarded Nixa’s Community Alternative Sentencing Court with an Innovation Award for using treatment, as opposed to traditional methods of punishment, to address underlying systemic issues that lead to crime. The court’s goal is to defer those who need help to the proper agency for services that will lead to economic opportunity, such as job placement.

Money Magazine named the city of Nixa No. 97 on its list of the Top 100 Places to Live for offering “a healthy economy, affordable homes and a high quality of life.”

The Greater Springfield Community Olympic Development Program named Lori Endicott-Vandersnick as executive director. The program’s head volleyball coach since 2005, she’s also a 1992 and 1996 Olympian, earning a bronze medal in volleyball. She succeeds the retiring Linda Dollar, who helped establish the program.

The city of Springfield departments of Public Works and Environmental Services achieved 100 percent compliance in their reaccreditation by the American Public Works Association. The action certifies the departments met all requirements of the best management practices established nationally in the public works industry. Only 1 percent of communities across the country have earned this distinction.

Nonprofit
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri brought on Laura Farmer as executive director. Farmer began her nonprofit career at AmeriCorps and the past seven years has served as regional director for Lutheran Family and Children’s Services Foundation Inc.

Television
The “Missouri Life” TV show featuring Silver Dollar City received a Mid-America Chapter Regional Emmy Award for Best Magazine Program at The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Mid-America Emmy Awards. The 30-minute program, produced by KMOS-PBS in Warrensburg, tells the story of the theme park through its employees.

Erin Hayes, professor for journalism and media studies at College of the Ozarks and former ABC World News correspondent, was inducted into The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Silver Circle. Honorees are recognized for their innovation, passion, creativity and commitment to the industry.
