Missouri State University's new men's basketball head coach Paul Lusk will earn total annual compensation of $400,000, according to his contract provided by the school following a Sunshine request.
Lusk will earn a base salary of $241,380, with additional funding provided by the MSU Foundation for promotional work and fundraising and the rest from radio and television program appearances. He also will receive an automobile for business and personal use during his tenure as head coach, membership in the Tower Club and social membership in a local country club.
Lusk, MSU President James Cofer and Kyle Moats, MSU director of athletics, signed the five-year contract, though it still awaits MSU Board of Governors approval at its next meeting scheduled May 12.
Should Lusk cancel his employment before the end of five years to take another head coaching job, the contract stipulates he would have to pay the university $250,000 if he left during his first year of employment and $50,000 less than that every subsequent year.
Lusk, who was an associate head coach at Purdue University, will bring in a higher salary than former coach Cuonzo Martin, who earned a total compensation package of $300,000. At his new position as head coach of the University of Tennessee, Martin will earn $1.3 million per year, according to the
