Miller Living Communities, the newly established subsidiary of Miller Commerce LLC, is planning a $20 million-$25 million senior housing center adjacent to the new U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs clinic under construction on the south side.
Owner Matt E. Miller said the 4349 S. Kansas Ave. project, dubbed Mission Ridge, would comprise 36 assisted-living beds, 24 memory care beds and 54 independent living units. He said the project should be complete in late 2019 or early 2020.
Although any residents in need of assisted-living services are welcome, Miller said Mission Ridge would cater to veterans.
“We will be doing some special pricing for veterans and doing some things to appeal more specifically to that demographic,” Miller said.
The $26 million, 92,000-square-foot Gene Taylor Community Outpatient Clinic is scheduled for completion later this year.
Miller Living Communities also is working on Turners Rock, a $25 million-$30 million senior-living community east of Highway 65 and Sunshine Street; Turners Pointe, a $15 million-$20 million skilled-nursing facility adjacent to Turners Rock; and a project in Omaha, Nebraska, in partnership with Springfield-based real estate developer Say You Can Development LLC.
Turners Rock, which is not yet under construction, is designed with a rooftop bar and a fitness center, among other amenities.
“It needs to be vibrant,” Miller said. “It needs to be the senior housing of the future.”
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
