Microsoft claims win over Russian political hackers

Microsoft is claiming victory over a group of Russian political hackers.

The company announced Russian hackers attempted to steal data from such organizations as the International Republican Institute and the Hudson Institute think tanks.

"We're concerned that these and other attempts pose security threats to a broadening array of groups connected with both American political parties in the run-up to the 2018 elections," Microsoft officials said in a blog post.

Microsoft blamed a Russian hacking group known as Fancy Bear.
