Michelle Obama slated to speak at Springfield Walmart

Posted online
First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to make a stop in Springfield next week at one of the city's Walmart stores.

The stop is part of a tour celebrating the third anniversary of her "Let's Move!" initiative to fight childhood obesity, according to a news release.

In Springfield, Obama is slated to visit an undisclosed Walmart store Feb. 28 to talk about Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s efforts to reduce sodium and added sugars in packaged food items and adding a seal to items to identify healthier food choices.

According to the release, the Springfield store was built in response to Obama's Let's Move! campaign. Scheduled for 2:35 p.m., attendees are asked to RSVP by Feb. 25.[[In-content Ad]]
