For the ninth consecutive year, Mercy and Resource Optimization & Innovation LLC are ranked in the top 10 of Gartner Inc.’s health care global supply chain list.

The organizations are ranked No. 6 – two spots down from last year – in the list that “recognizes companies across the health care value chain that demonstrate leadership in improving human life at sustainable costs.”

ROi manages Mercy’s internal supply chain, manufacturing and packaging medical equipment used throughout the Mercy health system and others in the United States. Its headquarters is in St. Louis, a consolidated services center in Springfield and the central distribution center is in Earth City.

ROi recently completed a 100,000-square-foot new facility in Republic, which houses Custom Pack Solutions. The company assembles and distributes custom surgical procedure packs for Mercy and other U.S. health care systems.

“A recognized leader in supply chain management, ROi serves health care organizations across the U.S. that share a passion for supply chain excellence,” the Gartner report says. “ROi provides a range of cost management and supply chain services, focusing on all aspects of supply chain from planning through fulfillment and consumption to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered in the most cost effective manner.”

In 2016, Mercy and ROi were ranked No. 4 on the list, and No. 5 in 2015.

Intermountain Healthcare claims the top ranking for the second year in a row. The Mayo Clinic and Cardinal Health follow in the top three.

Mercy follows Johnson & Johnson and outranks CVS Health.

In April, Mercy also was named one of the 2017 top five largest U.S. health systems by Truven Health Analytics. Mercy has 44 acute care and specialty hospitals; more than 700 physician practices and outpatient facilities; 40,000 co-workers; more than 2,000 physicians in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma; and outreach ministries in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
