Downtown boutique establishment Hotel Vandivort hired a new general manager for the role left vacant earlier this summer.
Zackary Oxley succeeds J.P. Roberts, who in July started working as general manager of The Draftsman, a Charlottesville, Virginia, boutique hotel. Roberts had led the $13 million, 50-room Hotel Vandivort since it opened in July 2015 at 305 E. Walnut St. Roberts helped Hotel Vandivort earn Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association’s 2016 Boutique Hotel of the Year award and become the first property in Springfield to receive AAA’s Four Diamond rating.
Starting Sept. 4, Oxley will come to Hotel Vandivort from Wyvern Hotel in Punta Gorda, Florida, where he was general manager, according to a news release. The property has 63 rooms in the Gulf Coast town, according to its website.
“The general manager role is critical to the culture of service and hospitality,” said Becky Rogers of Hotel Vandivort operator IDM Hospitality Management, in the release. “We are confident that Zackary will bring a gracious and inspiring leadership style for the team and the community.”
Oxley also will lead The Order, Hotel Vandivort’s in-house restaurant. IDM Hospitality Management conducted its own search for the new general manager, and an official declined to say how many candidates there were for the job.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
