Four months after coming out of retirement to take on the interim executive position for Greater Springfield Board of Realtors, Miles Noennig was voted permanently to the top role.
With the vote, GSBOR board members also chose to switch the name of the title to CEO from association executive. Noennig said it’s the first time he’s aware GSBOR has used the CEO title.
“It’s becoming more common in the association industry,” he said this morning. “We have more involvement on a regional level. We’re working closely with some of the other local associations within the southern region.”
The board of the 1,879-member organization voted to name Noennig CEO on April 12. It was announced this morning in a news release.
Noennig, who retired in October as CJR’s chief administrative officer, succeeds Jessica Hickok as the top executive of the GSBOR and Southern Missouri Regional MLS. Hickok
exited the job in December to become CEO of the statewide, 9,000-member Oklahoma Association of Realtors after four years leading the Springfield association.
Since December, Noennig said his status as interim executive equated to a trial run to make sure it was a good fit.
“We decided to date before we got married,” he said. “I love it. The members have been great. I’ve got a great staff. I guess I figured out I was too young to retire.”
