Project description: Jason Pullman and Jeff Hebble are opening their second Zaxby’s chicken restaurant. The franchisees brought the Georgia-based brand to Springfield in September 2016 on East Sunshine Street. Now, they’re targeting the south side at James River Commons, anchored by Academy Sports and Sam’s Club. “They’re moving fast,” Pullman said, noting Dimension Construction might beat the October completion date. “They’ve built a couple hundred of these.” Declining to disclose the restaurant’s startup costs, he said it will seat 90 and feature a new prototype interior. Operator Z5 Restaurants LLC currently is hiring up to 45 positions. Zax Properties entered a land lease with TKG-RKS Joint Venture LLC, the co-developers of James River Commons comprising The Kroenke Group and Ron Stenger Cos. A deed of trust on the property filed Feb. 13 with the Greene County recorder lists the note amount at $1.23 million from Central Bank of Branson. Pullman and Hebble plan to open three more Zaxby’s, the next one is at the northwest corner of U.S. Highway 65 and state Highway CC in Ozark.
