Project description: Idaho Falls-based Sunterra Springs is building its first rehabilitation center in Springfield, but its second in Missouri. The company specializes in short-term physical therapy and rehab with private rooms and suites. Rory Williams, vice president of operations for Sunterra Springs, said Missouri had a growing need for rehab clinics. The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee approved the 38-bed center a year ago, and Sunterra broke ground this summer in south Springfield. “We are bringing a high-end, luxury type of accommodation to the skilled nursing industry,” Williams said. “We use all in-house staffing so we don’t have to outsource. There was a bed need in Missouri and we’re hoping to fill it the right way.” In addition to its main center in Boise, Idaho, Sunterra plans to open in Independence this month, while facilities in Joplin and O’Fallon are in the works.
