Downtown c-store coming to Sky Eleven

A downtown bridal shop owner is launching a convenience store across the street in Sky Eleven.

Raven Cotton, who operates The Dress at 318 Park Central East, Ste. 104, in The U, is planning a Feb. 1 opening for Park Central Market at 311 Park Central East, Ste. 100, on the bottom floor of Sky Eleven, said Scott Cotton, her husband and co-owner in the c-store business with Mark and Rebecca Martin.  The Vecino Group redeveloped and owns both buildings. The Park Central Market plans were first reported by 417 Magazine.

“It’ll have everything that you would find in a standard Kum & Go,” Scott Cotton said, adding it also would sell produce and freshly made sandwiches from local vendors, including Farm 2 Counter Inc.

Located next door to gourmet grilled cheese restaurant and bar Druff’s, Park Central Market will operate in 3,300 square feet, about 2,800 square feet of which will be sales space. Cotton declined to disclose the couple’s investment in the store or lease terms with Vecino Group.

Cotton said the eight- to 10-employee store would target students and young professionals living in Vecino Group’s Park East properties, as well as downtown workers. Park Central Market also would help fill the void left by the summer closure of Price Cutter’s Bistro Market at 1260 St. Louis St.

“There is a need for something to fill that,” Cotton said. “I think we can step it up and do a good job with that.”
