Paul and Robert Dock have operated Dock Brothers Construction, at 1939 E. McDaniel, for almost 20 years.|ret||ret||tab|

They bought out the general contracting company from their father, Robert Dock, who started the business, as Dock Construction, in 1968. Their father worked out of his home and his truck until moving to the McDaniel street location in the 1970s. Paul Dock said they're generally responsible for a project from the initial site work and excavation all the way to the finished product.|ret||ret||tab|

"We use a lot of our (about 15) employees and also depend on suppliers and vendors when we're working on a project," he said. "The employees do site layout, concrete, carpentry and building finishes."|ret||ret||tab|

Paul Dock oversees sales, pricing and project administration. Robert Dock is in charge of project management, scheduling, employees and safety issues.|ret||ret||tab|

Dock Brothers was recently appointed a Butler Builder. "Butler Manufacturing, which is based in Kansas City, is the largest manufacturer of pre-engineered buildings in the world," Paul Dock said. "Being awarded a Butler Builder is pretty prestigious, They're pretty selective about who they get involved with. We use their materials because the services and products they offer are really unmatched. That means more resources for us."|ret||ret||tab|

Dock Brothers has accounted for a number of recently completed major projects, including the renovation of the News-Leader newspaper on Boonville, which took a year and a half to complete, the James River Town Centre at Glenstone and the James River Expressway. They also built the Famous Footwear, Staples, Michael's, Pet Warehouse and Dollar Tree Stores in Springfield, among others.|ret||ret||tab|

In the near future, the company will build the O'Brien Apartments at Battlefield and Fort, a structure designed to accommodate tenants with physical disabilities.|ret||ret||tab|

Paul and Robert Dock have a yearly memorial scholarship set up for a student at Southwest Missouri State University. The recipient must be a construction management major and someone who is in financial need, something Paul Dock labeled a top priority. "My dad grew up during the Depression in a poor environment," he said. "This scholarship honors where he started from, how he ended his life, and the people who helped him along the way."|ret||ret||tab|
