Deutsche Bank lost $1.6B on single trade

German lender Deutsche Bank reportedly lost $1.6 billion on a single bond trade.

The loss came from a $7.8 billion purchase of municipal bonds in 2007. The company purchased default protection on the bonds from Berkshire the following year for $140 million.

The company ultimately realized the $1.6 billion loss in 2016.
