Crossland Construction opens Springfield office

Posted online

Columbus, Kansas-based Crossland Construction Co. opened a Springfield office, marking its ninth location.

Lance Garrett, division manager in Springfield, said the company furnished the office a couple weeks ago ahead of its planned Oct. 12 open house. Crossland signed a three-year lease in June for 1,100 square feet from Scott Loveland at his 2332 W. Kingsley St. insurance office near The Fieldhouse Sportscenter. The company rented the space for three years at undisclosed terms.

“We’d operated here for a little bit off a card table,” Garrett said, noting the office has two full-time employees and an intern with plans to bring on two more staff members next year.

Crossland is known locally for building three Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market stores in the Queen City totaling roughly $4.8 million in development costs, the Wal-Mart Supercenter on West Sunshine Street, O’Reilly Automotive Inc.’s $8.9 million home office and Lift Truck Center Inc.’s dealership, among other projects, Garrett said.

Out of the Springfield office, the company currently is working on a Napleton Autowerks dealership near U.S. Highway 65 and Division Street, said Garrett, who’s worked out of Springfield the past five years for Crossland and was promoted with the opening of the new office. Beyond Napleton, the Springfield office is working and bidding on a handful of projects.

Crossland Construction last year produced more than $900 million in revenue, he said.
