Posted online

CoxHealth and Aetna Inc. (NYSE: AET) signed a partnership to provide insurance coverage to Springfield-area businesses.

Dubbed Aetna CoxHealth Preferred, the group coverage will became available on Jan. 1 to employers with 100 or more workers in Greene, Christian, Stone, Taney, Barry, Lawrence and Webster counties. It will become available to employers with 100 or fewer workers in the spring and to Aetna Funding Advantage customers in the summer, according to a news release.

“We are pleased to have another Aetna option in the market for people in our community who want to come to CoxHealth for their care,” said David Raney, vice president of CoxHealth Network, in the release. “Exclusive products like this one offer affordable options for patients, and we think this option will be well received in our market.”

In addition to the exclusive arrangement, CoxHealth and Aetna also agreed to create a preferred provider organization and an open-access product. CoxHealth will continue to participate in the Coventry Medicare Advantage PPO network, the release said.

Also in January, Mercy is launching an exclusive provider organization dubbed Anthem Alliance EPO with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri. Mercy also works with Aetna.
