California lawmakers withdrew a proposal that would have made it the first state to allow undocumented immigrants to access its health care exchange.
Covered California, the state's insurance exchange, withdrew its request to sell unsubsidized health plans to undocumented immigrants after being asked by legislators to do so.
Democratic state Sen. Ricardo Lara - the legislation's sponsor - said he was withdrawing the plan over fears Donald Trump's administration might use information on the undocumented workers to deport them.
