Jimmy Buffett eatery lands in Branson

A Jimmy Buffett-inspired, beach-themed eatery plans to open at the Branson Landing next week.

LandShark Bar & Grill will hold its grand opening Feb. 21 in a 7,100-square-foot space fronting Lake Taneycomo, said General Manager Robert Hertlein.

Crews currently are wrapping up infill work in preparation for the opening, Hertlein said, with window installation expected to be completed today. He was unsure of the infill costs or lease terms.

The restaurant is located at the square on the north side of the fountains, across from Cantina Laredo, said Branson Landing Marketing Director Nikki Sivils. The restaurant’s plans were announced by the Branson shopping and entertainment center in late May 2018. The restaurant was expected to open in fourth-quarter 2018.

Hertlein said the menu is influenced by Buffett’s songs like “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Margaritaville,” as well as the musician’s travels to Florida and New Orleans. Burgers, fish tacos and coconut shrimp are some of the most popular items, Hertlein said. LandShark serves a full drink menu, he said, but the featured beer is the island-style lager of the same name.

Hertlein, who came from a Margaritaville resort in Connecticut, said he’ll manage a staff of 105 for the Branson restaurant, 915 Branson Landing Blvd.

With LandShark’s opening, the Branson Landing has 16 dining options for visitors.

“We are very excited to welcome LandShark Bar & Grill to Branson Landing. The restaurant brings a unique and exciting dining experience to our center,” said Rick Huffman, president and CEO of HCW Development Co. LLC, the owner and operator of the Branson Landing, in a news release.

Branson will be the 10th location nationwide for the LandShark concept, according to the company’s website. Hertlein said the first opened in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2011.

IMCMV Holdings Inc. owns and operates Margaritaville and LandShark restaurants across the country, as well as eateries in Brazil and Panama, according to the release.
