The Better Business Bureau is warning potential customers they may want to be careful when dealing with a local timeshare exit company.
During the last 14 months, the BBB has received 31 complaints from 18 states about Last Resort Fee LLC. According to a news release, the business owned by Jeffrey Shaver most recently operated at 1440 E. Lark St. in Springfield after previously residing in Branson at 100 Fall Creek Drive.
Last Resort Fee currently has an F rating at BBB.org, which notes the company is not BBB accredited.
Among the complaints, the BBB says customers alleged Last Resort Fee failed to honor contracts, issue refunds or return phone calls. They have complained of overall lackluster customer service, according to the release.
“BBB has heard from complainants about how difficult it can be to get out of their timeshare responsibilities,” said Stephanie Garland, regional director of BBB’s Springfield office, in the release. “If this business can’t deliver what it has been contracted to do, it has an ethical obligation to issue refunds.”
The owner Shaver, according to the BBB, has three tax liens totaling nearly $37,000 against him from the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Calls to the phone number listed on Last Resort Fee’s website went to voicemail. The BBB noted attempts to reach Shaver via phone and email were unsuccessful.
