At Microsoft, 300 workers protest ICE contract

Posted online

Some 300 Microsoft employees are protesting the company's contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

“We request that Microsoft cancel its contracts with ICE, and with other clients who directly enable ICE,” employees wrote. “As the people who build the technologies that Microsoft profits from, we refuse to be complicit.”

The employees are threatening to resign unless Microsoft ends the $19.4 million contract with ICE.

Microsoft CEO CEO Satya Nadella said the company's contract with ICE “is supporting legacy mail, calendar, messaging and document management workloads.”
