Gene Marsh, a Springfield native on his first restaurant venture, said he was introduced to the budding brand by FD’s Grillhouse founder Greg Good. A member of the family behind Cheddar’s Casual Cafe, Good offered Marsh a franchise and, with undisclosed partners in Emerald Seas LLC, he launched the fourth FD’s in the chain – two are in Texas and one in Oklahoma. Marsh, who previously worked as Price Cutter’s director of perishables, declined to disclose startup costs. According to Springfield Business Journal reporting, the 5,500-square-foot restaurant’s estimated construction cost was $500,000. With 45 employees managed by

Chicago-based wireless carrier U.S. Cellular entered the Springfield market in late 2012 with a store at 3825 S.
