Phoenix Home Care Inc. last week expanded its reach via two acquisitions.
On Aug. 30, the Springfield-based home health care provider purchased Homemaker Health Care Inc. of Jefferson City and Cimarron Home Care LLC of Montrose, Colo., for undisclosed amounts, according to Phoenix co-owner and President Phil Melugin.
With the Homemaker purchase, Phoenix adds three additional offices in Jefferson City, Camdenton and Sedalia, 150 employees and 322 clients. The Cimarron acquisition adds another office, 35 employees and 70 clients, Melugin said, noting Phoenix now employs 1,300 across 11 locations in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado.
Phoenix launched in mid-2011 and a year later added 150 employees through its
first acquisition, ProActive Home Care in Wichita, Kan.
Phoenix Director of Marketing Darla Marler said Homemaker immediately took on the Phoenix name, and Cimmaron is in the process of converting to the Springfield company's moniker.
"Both of them were kind of led to us. We weren't out looking for them. It just seemed like a good time with the growth of Phoenix," Marler said of the acquisitions.
Phoenix posted 2012 revenue of $16 million, a 44 percent increase compared to 2011. In July, Melugin said the company was on pace for $23 million this year, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
