PC Net co-founder dies

Posted online
Greg Clift, the co-founder of Springfield information technology firm PC Net Inc., died Nov. 27 of cancer. He was 51.

Clift, who founded the firm with his parents in 1987, started treatment for brain cancer in 2012, according to his obituary posted at JDLeeandSons.com.

Visitation for the Saddlebrooke resident is scheduled for noon Dec. 5, following by a 1 p.m. service at J.D. Lee & Sons Funeral Home in Rogersville.

Clift’s parents retired in 2000, leaving him as owner and president of the company. Marty Roach, a systems engineer with the company, could not be reached for comment by deadline regarding PC Net’s future.

“Greg's battle with cancer was extremely hard fought,” company officials wrote in a Facebook post announcing Clift’s death. “Over the past three years, his presence has been missed in our office, as well as in the community.

“Our team at PC Net will strive to emulate what we have been shown. Our course is charted and our example set. We intend to carry on in a way that would make Greg proud.”

In the community, Clift supported the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield as a former board member, sponsored a team for the annual Shootout for Autism and was a member and past president of the Springfield Executive Breakfast Club, according to his obituary.

Clift is survived by his parents, Gary and Micki Clift; his son and daughter-in-law, Caleb and Mariah Rich; his daughter, Lily Clift; his brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Rhonda Clift; a grandson, two nieces and two nephews.
