Panera Bread moved Sept. 16 to 4100 S. Campbell Ave. down the street and across from its longtime cafe at 3837 S. Campbell Ave. JGTS LLC, a real estate company owned by Panera Bread franchisees Jim and Gaynell Magers, built the $2 million, 8,000-square-foot multitenant retail center, formerly the site of a vacant Carlos O’Kelly’s restaurant. Operated by franchisee Traditional Bakery Inc., the cafe occupies 5,000 square feet. Marketing Director Claudine Stark said with 65 employees, the bakery-cafe offers bagels, pastries, sandwiches, soup and salad. Hazel’s Flower & Gift Shop
Fifty-two-year-old Hazel’s Flower & Gift Shop on the Ozark square changed hands Oct. 1. Shelley Hume and Jeff VanHaveren bought the 1,500-square-foot property, 121 N. Second St., as well as store merchandise and supplies from Bobbi Wixson for an undisclosed amount. Hume said the business was listed for sale through Kingsley Group, and the acquisition process started in January. She said VanHaveren has worked in the florist business for 38 years in St. Paul, Minn., where he owned a few flower shops. Hazel’s Flowers specializes in flowers and plants in bulk and arrangements for weddings and funerals. Top-selling arrangements come from California, Ecuador and Columbia, VanHaveren said. The new owners are developing a do-it-yourself station for brides to design wedding arrangements. Hazel’s would finish the bouquets and deliver them. Single-flower prices range up to $12 a stem, and bulk prices range between $50 and $200 for events. Hours: 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.–noon Saturday. Elite Pain Management LLC opened Oct. 15 at 222 E. Primrose St., Ste. E. Specializing in medical management of chronic pain and treating related addictions, Dr. David Tonkin signed a one-year lease for 3,200 square feet for undisclosed terms. Lipscomb Properties owns the building, according to Greene County assessor records. Three physicians and three specialists work in the office, said Sylvia Glenn, operations coordinator. In-house or referral services include physical therapy, chiropractic care, surgery, interventional procedures and behavioral health. Common treatments are for back, neck, joint and leg pain and spinal issues. Tonkin, the company CEO, has practiced anesthesiology and pain management at Mercy Clinic and Citizens Memorial Hospital.
