Springfield’s fourth brewery pushes back opening date

Posted online
Springfield’s fourth brewery is opening later than expected as the owner irons out the final details.

Lost Signal Brewing Co. owner Tyler Hoke said he’s now shooting to open the 610 W. College St. pub and barbecue restaurant by late December or in early January.

“It depends on how construction goes,” he said.

In March, Hoke was eyeing an October opening for the brewpub at the former longtime home of the the KICK radio station.

“It just took time to get permitting and the construction done,” he said this morning of the delay.

Nesbitt Construction is the general contractor behind the 3,700-square-foot project located next to Randy Bacon’s photography studio. Arkifex Studio LLC served as architect for the project, and construction work is expected to wrap by Christmas. City building permits list the work at $150,000. Lost Signal is planned with 77 indoor seats and 40-50 outside.

Hoke declined to say what types of beers and how many would be available when Lost Signal opens.

“That’s all up in the air,” he said of the company’s in-house selections. “We probably won’t release it until the actual day. “

The Springfield native who’s lived in Dallas the last seven years previously said the pub would brew its take on familiar offerings such as India pale ales and porters and would not wholesale. He also plans to serve such barbecue dishes as pulled pork and ribs.

In the Queen City, Lost Signal will join Mother’s Brewing Co., Springfield Brewing Co. and White River Brewing Co. The brewpub sits nearly equidistant from Mother’s and SBC.

Adjacent to SBC, the Brewery District Flats lofts complex is now ready for residential tenants. Jamie Wilcox of At Home Real Estate Services - which is managing the property - said the project’s commercial spaces have not been leased. The three-story development has 4,000 square feet of retail, office and banquet space on the first floor and 25 apartments on the top two floors.
