Tech giants form counter-terrorism group

Four of the largest technology companies are boosting their collaborative efforts against extremism on their platforms.

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Microsoft on Monday announced the formation of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism.

"It will formalize and structure existing and future areas of collaboration between our companies and foster cooperation with smaller tech companies, civil society groups and academics, governments and supra-national bodies such as the EU and the UN," Twitter officials said in a statement.
