Sears exploring options for Kenmore, Craftsman brands

On the heels of a dismal first quarter report, Sears Holdings Corp. Thursday announced it is exploring options for some of its most popular brands, which may include selling or licensing them to another retailer.
 
Company officials listed Kenmore, Craftsman, Diehard and even the Sears Home Services repair arm as growth areas if their market presence could be expanded, according to Fortune.
 
Despite a 7.1 percent decrease in sales during the first quarter, Sears is the top seller in the U.S. of large appliances, installing 4.5 million during 2014.
 
Sears Holdings, also the owner of Kmart, has lost more than $8 billion since 2010, which has forced the past sale of other brands such as Lands’ End.
