JFK assassination: Woman sues for return of film

Return after 25 years and $5,000 – that was the agreement Orville Nix made with news agency UPI in November 1963.

What was the deal for? Film footage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Now, Nix’s granddaughter, Gayle Nix Jackson, is suing the federal government for the film’s return.

According to BBC News, the film was later handed to the government for its inquiries. Its last known sighting was with the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1978. It was believed to have been handed to the National Archives and Records Administration, but the agency says it no longer has the movie.

The film was shot from the opposite side of the presidential limousine from where the famous Zapruder film was taken on Nov. 22, 1963. The Nix film shows the bullet hitting the president, first lady Jackie Kennedy climbing on to the trunk of the limousine and secret service agent Clint Hill jumping into the vehicle.
